  • Now it is closed and replaced by European Solidarity Centre. This new Gdansk landmark located in the Gdansk Shipyard just 5-minute walk from Gdansk Central Train Station shows the complicated Polish history from the end of the Second World War up to the free elections in 1989. The whole exhibition is interactive so it is suitable for those of all ages. Children can explore and crawl inside a large police van, a crane and an electric car. Adults will see plenty of artefacts from communist times which will help in understanding life behind the Iron Curtain. The visit at the European Solidarity Centre takes us into the past and we will see how Poles, worked, lived and fought for freedom. We will see how Lech Walesa – the worker from the shipyard become the leader of the first free trade union “Solidarity” and later become the first democratic president in post WW2 history. This modern museum also shows what was happening in other communist countries like: Czechoslovakia , Hungary and the DDR (East Germany). The trip will take approximately 2- 3 hours. • Entrance fees in 2015 : European Solidarity Centre: regular ticket 17 zloty, discount ticket 13 zl, regular group ticket (11 persons or more) 15 zł/pp, discount group ticket (11 persons or more) 11 zł pp
