No wonder that Costa Ricans live by the motto “Pura vida” (pure life) because lying at wonderful beaches, canopying through the amazing rainforest or observing an eruption of a volcano just puts a smile on everybody’s face. After landing at the Airport of San José, just take the next bus out of the city, and into the countryside. If you decide to start your trip with couple of days at the beach, you will be spoilt for choice. Manuel Antonio, Quepos, Jacó, Isla Tortuga, Tamarindo, Conchal, Cahuita and Limon are just a small choice. There are sandy, pebbly, crowded and deserted beaches, and some are also full of sea shells. And don’t be surprised if you come across monkeys trying to steal some food from your bags! In the case that you prefer to spend some time in the rain forest, go to the Monteverde or to the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. There you can do a canopy tour, which means soaring through the rain forest high above the ground or you can walk around on hanging bridges and observe the typical Costa Rican flora and fauna. No matter what you decide to do, don’t forget to do in the “pura vida” style.
