Nice Budget Holiday
Nice has been the favored destination of the international elite for a long time, associated with glamor and celebrity. However, this gem of the French Riviera still retains much of its old charm and hospitality and also caters to low budget travelers.
For four euros you can get a day pass to the tramway which is the best way to get around Nice, although much of the city is also walkable. Even consider the seven day Lignes d’Azur bus pass.
Head down to the Promenade des Anglais, and soak up some of the Nice charm. Or spend the day lazing around at one of the beaches nearby. Old (Vieux) Nice has an outdoor Sunday bargain that offers antiques and retro items with low budget prices. Make sure to hone your bargaining skills.
A Nice budget holiday tip is to check out the Museé Marc Chagall, which opens its doors for free on the first Sunday of every month. And if you are interested in French landscaping, the Parc Phoenix near the airport is an excellent location, with only 2 euros entry.
A budget holiday to Nice must also include a hike up to the Chateau park, from where you can get an excellent view of the Riviera and Nice itself. You could also take the chair-lift to here.
Consider also traveling to Cannes for a day trip. It's not too far on the train, and very budget friendly and comparatively quieter.
Nice budget dining options include Lou Pistou, where you can dine on cheap local specialties such as anchovy tarts, or L’Allegro, serving excellent Italian cuisine with low budget prices. Or head to the port and try out some of the seafood restaurants there, which are bound to be good and aren’t too pricey.
On your budget trip to Nice, make sure that you organize accommodation in advance, as prices rise last minute. Le Grimaldi and Notre Dame Hotels are travelers favorites. Comte Hotel de Nice is also an excellent option.
