For Budget-Minded Travelers

Planning a budget holiday in Quebec is remarkably simple, with prices for accommodations, eating and partying all relatively low in comparison with other North American cities. In addition, the old capital of 'New France' and the current capital of Quebec province has a number of sights that can be admired for free!

On a budget trip to Quebec, be sure to take in the Old Town, which sums up the charm of the city. Here you'll see great examples of French colonial architecture, and many small boutiques within the old walls. Also located nearby is the Chateau Frontenac, an icon of the city, and one of the most photographed hotels in North America. The Basse Ville (Lower Town) consists of the Place Royal, a pretty square with a mural covering the entire side of one of the buildings.

Notre Dame cathedral and the Quebec Museum of Art are both free, giving you access to some great art even when you're on a budget. The latter houses an excellent collection of art from the province of Quebec.

Le Casse Crepe is an excellent eating option for travelers with little money to spare. It's famous for its excellent value crepes.

Budget hotel options in Quebec include Le Voyageur and City Center Hotel, both in Quebec City.
