New Year's in Perth
Perth New Year's Eve celebrations are fun and crazy (even without the Opera House fireworks display). Most of the family fun is centered around the Perth Town Hall, where people gather around the historic clock to count-in the New Year. Party-goers head to Northbridge, Perth's liveliest neighborhood, and enjoy the New Year's parties in the streets, as well as the best bars and clubs.
Another Perth New Year's institution is the Perth Cup, a horse racing event held every New Year's Eve, with a swanky crowd gathering to cheer and socialize. However, much of the serious partying takes place in clubs like the George in Northbridge, which throws a huge bash.
For great cocktails and a chilled-out atmosphere head to Hula Bula tiki Bar, or to Aberdeen to really let your hair down and party.
For dinner beforehand, or to spend New Year's Eve in a more quiet atmosphere, try Fraser's, Perth's famous and arguably best restaurant. The Blue Duck is another great choice, offering great views over the city and excellent wood fired pizzas. The Brass Monkey Brasserie offers a creative take on Australian food using seasonal produce.
