New Year's in Vancouver
New Year's Eve in Vancouver is the time for party goers to take over the city. If you know you're ready to party until late, make sure that you get a decent place to put yourself up Downtown. Book in advance, because places fill up rather quickly and prices rise last minute.
Some good hotel options to consider are the Richmond Inn, Westin Grand and Westin Bayshore. Make these your base and head out to the various party spots throughout the city from here.
The Commodore Ballroom always has a great New Year's party. The Pacific Coliseum also organizes a huge Vancouver New Year's gala, with over 4500 party goers and big name performers. The Telus World of Science also organizes an event - their bar, clubs spaces and VIP rooms are spread over three floors. Gastown has some of the more affordable options. Of particular note is the Lamplighter Burlesque Ball which holds several striptease and burlesque shows (leave the kids at home for these parties).
Several party cruises also take off from the harbor. Many of these are targeted at singles, offering excellent opportunities to mingle and meet people.
If big parties are not your thing, consider going to the Vancouver Aquarium which also hosts an event. You'll get to see the marine life in a completely different manner.
Or if you prefer a quiet dinner topped off with some champagne at midnight, head to Joe Forte's for some excellent seafood, or Diva for some inspired French cuisine.
On New Year's Day, head to the Elbow Room for generous breakfast that is bound to relieve you from any hangover.
