Version 4.0 of the travel app shows a clear, modern layout; free travel guide available in the iPhone version on July 19
Vienna, July 17, 2014. tripwolf, the Vienna-based international provider of online and mobile travel guide content, has just released a completely new version of the tripwolf iPhone app. The whole layout of the app has been redesigned to accommodate the latest technical and aesthetical standards. The result is an application with pleasantly fluid navigation and contemporary design elements. The new designs are based on the design already implemented in the iPad version of the app last November, with a clear tile design in fresh colors and more intuitive navigation. After the iPad app was launched, this version became an instant bestseller for tripwolf and now accounts for over 50% percent of in-app purchases and 45% of the downloads of the app in the iTunes store.
This redesign sees a shift in focus towards the photos and the main categories in the travel guides. Illustrative photographs of points of interest convey an inspiring impression of the individual travel destinations. The clean layout makes the app easier to use on the small iPhone screen, with no clutter or distractions, and the user’s attention is focussed on the essential features of the travel guides. The overall result is harmonious and eminently practical.
tripwolf – stronger as a team
“During the redesign of one of our main products, we discovered a new dimension to team work – all the processes were deeply interlinked and everyone worked intensely in order to optimize the new app. After all, about half of our users access their tripwolf mobile travel guides via an iPhone when they are on the road. We are very proud of the result. The fact that the iPhone app now has an exciting new look and feel motivates us to implement more enhancements to the content and additional features that we have planned for the near future,” says tripwolf’s CEO Wilfried Schaffner.
Only recently – one year after the takeover by CEO Wilfried Schaffner – tripwolf reached 6 million downloads. With the iPhone app being renewed, the Vienna based travel startup completely overhauled one of their best-selling products. Besides the iPhone version, the portfolio of tripwolf also contains the travel app for iPad and Android. While tablets allow comfortable travel planning especially at home or in the hotel, the smartphone versions are most commonly used by the tripwolf users due to the handiness of the devices.
tripwolf travel guide is a mobile app that is also available as an online platform (http://www.tripwolf.com/). tripwolf offers mobile guides for iOS and Android devices for more than 500 destinations worldwide in five languages (German, English, Spanish, French and Italian). On average, 1 million users per month visit the web platform tripwolf.com, and more than 200,000 registered tripwolf community members write reviews and upload travel photos to the guides. 2012 was the first time tripwolf GmbH achieved an annual profit. Besides the in-house produced tripwolf travel app, tripwolf has created numerous international collaborative white label apps including Visit Aruba, Best of Berlin and Venga Mexico.
