Hunza Peak, 6,270m (20,570 feet)
Shifting the known frontiers
The "Vienna Verticals" are on their way to Hunza Peak. The three extreme climbers Klaus Bonazza, Harry Grün, and Jakob Karner are looking forward to becoming the first climbers of its 1200m (4000 feet) high southeast face ever - an masterpiece in alpinism.
They took off to Pakistan on August 20, and will need three weeks for their endeavour. Without any help from the outside world, they will remain in the face, having to carry not only their own bodies but also 200kg (430 pounds) of vital equipment and provisions. They will have to endure temperatures between -30°C (-20 °F) at night and +40°C (+104 °F) during the day - with only very low oxygen levels available.
This is nothing short but one of the most ambitious projects ever.

The "kid"
Klaus Bonazza
Winter and summer, hanging in frozen cliffs, snowfall, hostile environments, you name it - Klaus thinks of them as welcome training conditions for future challenges. Many of the most vicious steep faces have seen him pass.
The extremist
Jakob Karner
It's not easy to put a name tag on Jakob's style, neither sports nor alpine climbing fit sufficiently. He is simply just about to create a style on his own, combining youthful relaxedness, and professional sincereness.
The experienced
Harry Gruen
Harry Grün is one of the outstanding mountaineers of our times. He has climbed a long list of mountains, due to his combination of mental strength, excellent decision-making skills, and physical endurance.
