The new tripwolf iPhone Travel App with Offline Maps

The tripwolf iPhone app is a free travel guide with integrated Offline Maps and Augmented Reality. The mobile travel guide is available in 5 languages (English, German, Italian, Spanish, French) and all information is accessible offline in order to help avoid roaming charges abroad. The travel information for all city, region and country guides of the free travel app is a combination of information and travel tips by the tripwolf community and content by Footprint and Marco Polo travel guides. Users can vote, write reviews and upload photos directly from their iPhone to share them with other travelers.

    Very useful on a recent trip to Rome - particularly the 'where am I' button. A slight criticism would be that the large number of name tags for hotels etc occasionally cluttered the map, but that may simply have been the way I set it up on the iPhone.

    OFFLINE MAPS ARE CURRENTLY DISABLED BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES DUE TO HIGH POPULAR DEMAND. Thanks to the OpenStreetMap community for their support! Offline maps will be fully functional again in a few days and all travel guides will remain free of charge for the next two weeks.

    For more than a week the new version 1.2.2 shows up in iTunes (Luxembourg store) but cannot be downloaded "not available in the Luxembourg store"... can you please fix that?

    @ kimptoc: Thanks for your comment. The premium travel guides are ad-free and contain phone numbers, addresses, website URLs, opening hours, etc. But the big selling point are the more than hundred description texts that you will get from trusted guide book publishers.

    I like that city guides are available not only for major cities(try Timelkam) but also for every hick town (try Salzburg), even if those guides list only a few places. Excellent for planing a journey are country and the region guides! I'd love to see this app on Android phones as well!

    Great app!! But inserting search string is very clumsy - after inserting one char the keyboard disappears and I've to tip on the search field to activate it again. Pls fix this "feature". thanks!

    @paulidirac. For right now we have a limit of 3 downloadable guides! Please be aware that this is an alpha version of the tripwolf iphone app. Soon we might be offering more than 3 guides available. Storing is possibly. When being in Cover Flow Overview Mode then tap the top right corner button and download the guide being connected to WiFi - this downloads the guide and it's stored locally.@rcstewsr please describe your problem more precisely in an e-mail to iphone@tripwolf.com. thanks!

    Why is there a 3 guide limit for offline use ? Memory is certainly not an issue for city guides... I plan to see a bunch of cities in Europe and it would be nice if I could store them before going.

    hi, currently the app only serves on a City level guide. Entire countries simply do have too much content/cities/sights to be downloaded on the iphone unless your memory crashes. We are working hard on providing a work around for this so you can also have entire countries within the app.Sorry and thanks for your understanding lukas / tripwolf iphone team
