Koltur is one of the smallest island in the Faroe Islands. Situated north of the island Hestur, south of Vágar island and west of the largest island, Streymoy. Koltur can be seen from the villages Velbastaður and Kirkjubøur on Streymoy as well as from other villages on Streymoy and Vágar island and from Sandoy island. Koltur is an ecological island. There is only one family who live on the island and they run an ecological sheep farm. Koltur is a unique island and very interesting, but it is not easy to travel to Koltur. You can contact the family there or you can ask on the Tourist Information Center in Tórshavn. There are no ferries to Koltur, one can only travel to Koltur by helicopter.
