For decades, the Drechsler was a shabby refuge for Vienna's nocturnal bohemians. After the recent change of owners and a makeover by none less than the British designer, Terence Conran, the decor is incomparably smarter. However, it still functions as a round the clock meeting place, closing for only one hour very late at night for cleaning. The food is classic Viennese and the staff are remarkably friendly. The café is fancy. The particular highlight here are the live events. A cheap lunch special and small dishes (regional cuisine) are available.
