The Alexander Gardens were created as a pleasure park for Czar Alexander I. In the northern part, a perpetual flame burns at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. War is also recalled by the large stone rectangle erected as a memorial to the heroism of Soviet cities during World War II.
