Bega’s biggest tourist attraction is its famous cheese factory (Lagoon St, T6491 7762, http://www.begacheese.com.au, 0900-1700, free). To the north and west of Bega is the 79,459-ha Wadbilliga National Park, a wilderness region of rugged escarpment and wild rivers. Along the road to the Brogo River Dam you can stay at Fernmark Inn, a perfect base from which to explore the park’s rivers, perhaps best done by canoe.
