South Bank

Overlooking the high-rise blocks on the southern bank of the Brisbane River is the remarkable 17-ha ‘oasis in the city’ that is known as the South Bank. Built primarily as the showpiece for Expo 88, the 1-km stretch of parkland remains a fascinating and functional recreational space and includes riverside walks, shops, restaurants and a swimming lagoon with its very own beach. This area is also the venue for the colourful South Bank Lifestyle Markets (every Fri night, Sat and Sun).

This park goes all along the river. There is an artificial beach where you can have a swim in summer, when Brisbane gets really hot! There are many museums, cinema, theater... and it's nice to spend the new years eve there, with concerts and fireworks. Every Sunday a really nice market takes place there! Enjoy it!
