From Blenheim SH6 passes through the small village of Renwick before winding its way through the rolling hills of the Inner Marlborough Sounds to Nelson. About a third of the way (41 km), at the head of the expansive Pelorus Sound, is the enchanting little village of Havelock. Blink and you will miss it, but if you have time, a stop here is well worth it.

Getting there and around
Havelock is 41 km from Blenheim and 75 km from Nelson on SH6. By bus, Intercity, Atomic Shuttles and K’Bus, T0508-458835/T03- 358 8355, http://www.kbus.co.nz, all service Havelock (Main Road) on their way back and forth to Nelson.
For track transport, West Bay Water Transport, T03-573 5597, http://www.westbay.co.nz, based near the ferry terminal in Picton, serves the southern end of the Queen Charlotte Track from Torea Bay to Anakiwa (single from $25) and offers half-day track-walk options ($45).
