From Glentanner you begin to enter the ‘chancel’ of the mountains and the national park proper. In Mount Cook, about 23 km further towards the mountains and 63 km from Twizel, you will find yourself climbing out of your ‘dinky-toy’ car feeling like a termite. It’s easy to get neck ache round here.
