The bustling seaside resort town of Batemans Bay on the Eurobodalla Coast provides an ideal stopover along the coastal Princes Highway. Most of the Bay’s beaches are located southeast of the town centre and if you have time it is worth heading that way. Tomakin and Broulee offer the best surf and fishing sites and jet skis can be hired on Coriggan’s Beach. On the river you can take a leisurely three-hour cruise upstream to the historic riverside village of Nelligen. The area offers some excellent sea kayaking. There are numerous excellent dive sites around the Bay. Just off the Princes Highway near the town centre is the very helpful VIC (T4472 6900, http://www.naturecoast-tourism.com.au, 0900-1700).
