Air
Proserpine Airport, 36 km west of Airlie Beach, on the mainland, and Hamilton Island Airport, provide air access. Both are serviced by Qantas, T131313. Lindeman is the only other island with an airfield.

Boat
Shute Harbour, east of Airlie Beach, is the main departure point for ferry services to the Whitsunday islands. Blue Ferries (Fantasea), T4946 5111, http://www.fantasea.com.au, offers daily services to Hamilton (6 daily, from $40 return), South Molle/Daydream (6 daily, from $27 return) and Long Island (3 daily, from $27 return). A range of day tripper and adventure cruises that include use of resort facilities and lunch are also on offer from $50-90. Their main office is at the ferry terminal, with another office at Shop 11, Shute Harbour Rd, Airlie Beach, T4946 5111. Ferry schedules are available at the VICs. Whitehaven Express, T4946 6922, http://www.whitehavenxpress.com.au, runs a daily trip to Whitehaven Beach from Abel Point Marina (Cannonvale) at 0900, from $133, child $67, family $390. Island Camping Connections, T4946 5255, is based at the ferry terminal and offers island transfers for campers by water taxi, from $45-150. Book ahead.

Whitsunday Transit, T4946 1800, www.whit sundaytransit.com.au, has regular daily services from Proserpine to Shute Harbour (through Airlie Beach).
