Koh Tao

One of the Gulf of Thailand’s little jewels

Koh Tao, the smallest of the three famous islands in the Gulf of Thailand, is a big dive and snorkelling centre with plenty of shallow coral beds and tropical fish. The waters – especially in the south and east – are stunning, a marbling of turquoise blue, sapphire, emerald and seaweed green. For non-divers this small island offers a surprisingly high number of exceptionally well-designed, independent upmarket resorts, with the added bonus of quiet beach life by day and fairly sophisticated nightlife due to the underwater preferences of the majority of visitors. The name Koh Tao, translated as ‘turtle island’, relates to the shape of the island.

Ko Tao is probably the best place for young divers who also want to celebrate and just be young. But the island offers space and activities for random travellers too. After all i liked it and would go again, though i didn't dive, but the snorkeling trip was awesome too and gives a decent taste of what's further underneath the surface around this fine island.

a quiet, cozy little island ... some higher hills to hike and a true diving paradise .. in the bungalows of the guest houses can also snakes now and again and find more spin, but only because it originally housed so close to nature .. top! The beast is occurring the way (allegedly) non-toxic!
