Goulmima (not to be confused with Goulimine, south of Agadir) is one of a series of expanding small towns, mainly Amazigh in population, around the eastern side of the High Atlas. There is a lot of new property on the outskirts and the town is well served with water, electricity and telephones. For visitors the main attraction is the large number of ksar out in the palm groves (ask at Les Palmiers). Much of the town is to the north of the road in the main oasis. Market day is Monday.
There is a road north from Goulmima leading to the villages of the High Atlas (only suitable for 4WD). It is surfaced for the 55 km to Amellago, from where it is possible to circle back to the Todra Gorge and/or the Dadès Gorge.
