Tan Tan used to be the southernmost town in Morocco, before the incorporation of the Spanish Sahara into Morocco in the form of the Saharan provinces. The town is a dull administrative centre, with duty-free shops and a fishing port, where you could perhaps have a look at the fishing fleet. The blue cloth worn by the formerly nomadic inhabitants of this area is sold in the souk. There is a beach 25 km away, with some good fish cafés.
