Getting there
The railway station is about 1 km from the main hotels and the bus stand, 500 m north of it, on Grand Road. Cycle-rickshaws tout for business all across town.
Puri
Air
Bhubaneswar, 60 km, is the nearest airport . Prepaid taxi to Puri from the airport Rs 600, 1-1½ hrs.
Bicycle and motorcycle
Hiring a bike or a motorbike is a good option for exploring the coast. There are several outlets on CT Rd. Cycles costs around Rs 30 per day. Motorbikes around Rs 200-250 per day, moped Rs 120-150.
Bus
Enquiries, T06752-224461. The huge, open bus stand on Grand Rd runs regular buses to Bhubaneswar and Konark. Minibuses are faster. There are also services to Cuttack, Visakhapatnam and Kolkata.
Rickshaw
Cycle-rickshaws available all over town. From the bus stand to CT Rd costs Rs 25; from the railway station Rs 15. To avoid commission being added to room price, ask to be dropped off at the BNR Hotel and walk along CT Rd to your hotel.
Taxi
Tourist taxis from larger hotels, CT Rd agencies, and taxi stand, T06752-222161; Rs 700 per 8 hrs or 80 km. To Bhubaneswar around Rs 600.
