The NH17 runs south through Khed to Chiplun on the banks of the Vashishti River, fed from the Koyna Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in the Western Ghats. There are spectacular views across the flat valley bottom, criss-crossed by the several courses of the meandering river. After Khed and 10 km before Chiplun, near an attractive small village and temple (difficult to find when travelling north) there is accommodation.
