Pune

After the small towns and seemingly endless spaces of the Deccan Plateau, Pune comes as a vibrant surprise. Touched by the élan of Mumbai, which is within commuting distance, the town comes to life in the early evening with open-air cafés and pavements crowded with young people out to enjoy themselves in a modern, cosmopolitan atmosphere, a place to see and be seen. It is an important and respected university town and one of the fastest growing IT centres of India, whilst the Osho Meditation Resort continues to attract large numbers of Westerners desperately seeking something.
