Getting There
It is only a 5-min walk between the ferry jetty and the KSRTC bus station despite what many local rickshaw drivers will tell you.
Bus
From the KSRTC Bus Station, T0477-225 2501, there are frequent long-distance buses to Kochi, 0630-2330 (1½ hrs, Rs 37); Thiruvananthapuram, 0600-2000, (4 hrs, Rs 96) via Kollam (2 hrs, Rs 55); Champakulam, 0515-2000 (45 mins, Rs 10) and Kottayam, 0730-1800 (1½ hrs, Rs 30). There are several buses daily to Coimbatore, from 0600 (7 hrs, Rs 96).
Car
A car with driver from Alappuzha to Fort Kochi (65 km) costs Rs 500-600.
Ferry
Public ferries, T0477-225 2015, sail to Kottayam, 0730, 1000, 1130, 1300, 1430 and 1730 (3 hrs) and Changanassery, 1000, 1300 and 1730 (3 hrs). Also frequent services to Nedumudi (1 hr).
Train
The train station, T0477-225 3965, is 3 km from the jetty. Trains run to Ernakulam (Junction) regularly between 0600-1925, (1½ hrs). To Chennai: Alleppey Chennai Exp 6042, 1610 (15¾ hrs). Going south the Ernakulam Trivandrum Exp 6341, journeys to Thiruvananthapuram, 0655 (3½ hrs), via Kollam (2 hrs), and Varkala (3 hrs).Stay In Touch

Several places on Mullakal Rd. Net Café, opposite Kidangamparampu Temple, charges Rs 20 per hr.
