For a short spell, when the police cracked down most severely on parties up north, Palolem looked like it might act as the Anjuna overflow. Today, Neptune’s Point has permission to hold parties once every two weeks, but so far, Palolem’s villagers are resisting the move to make the beach a mini-party destination and authorities are even stumping up the cash to pay for litter pickers. The demographic here is chiefly late-20s and 30-something couples, travellers and students. The large church and high school of St Tereza of Jesus (1962) are on the northern edge of town.
