Look out for the Venetian loggia adjoining the town gate, the baroque Church of Saints Mary, Vitus and Modest with a free-standing bell tower on the main square, and the tiny 16th-century Chapel of Saints Cosmas and Damian, decorated with frescoes by Ivan Lovrenčić in 1990, in front of the town gate. There are some well- marked footpaths lead to the surrounding villages making good walks.
Each year Jeunesses Musicales Croatia, an international federation of young musicians, meets here for a summer school run by well-known European and Japanese professors, such as Geoffry Wharton, violin concertmaster of the Cologne Philharmonic Orchestra, and the world-renowned trombonist Branimir Slokar. Each day, the old streets are filled with the sounds of brass, woodwind and stringed instruments of varying tones and pitches, and come evening live performances are staged beneath the stars as part of the ‘Jazz is Back’ festival.
