Built into the slopes overlooking a narrow bay, 4 km below the hilltop settlement of Labin, Rabac is the most popular resort on the east coast of Istria. Since the 1960s, this small fishing village has seen the construction of 14 large hotels and a plethora of holiday apartments, and can now accommodate up to 10,000 guests at a time. There’s little of cultural interest, the main attraction being a decent pebble beach in the centre, a second beach called Girandella renowned for parties just a short distance out of town, and a number of good fish restaurants. The main beach is on the northern side of the bay where it is possible to rent sunbeds and umbrellas. Girandella is 1.5 km north of the centre and can be reached on foot following the coastal promenade. The tourist office in Labin covers both Rabac and Labin.
Rabac is not served by regional buses. However, a local service connects it to Labin, with 14 buses daily. It is also possible to walk from Labin down to Rabac, following a well- marked 4-km footpath.
Rabac really deserves the blue flag. My respect and admiration for this beach and dese environment. This patch Istria is really all very clean and environmental protection businesses. Really great it would be even if sorting would be operated in Croatia (I have taken empty plastic bottles to Austria), but I'm sure it will happen yet. The price-performance ratio (Sept. 09) voted.
