Gradac

Located 42 km southeast of Makarska, Gradac marks the end of the Rivijera. The newer part of town is just off the main coastal road, perched on a triangular peninsula jutting out to sea. There’s a popular pebble beach, Gornja Vala, south of town, while the original settlement of Gradac, built into the hillside above the coast, has a watchtower from 1661, built to defend the area against the Turks. There’s also a local tourist office Stjepana Radić 1, T021-697511, http://www.gradac.hr.
