On the south coast of Brač, Bol is home to Croatia’s most-photographed beach, the spectacular Zlatni Rat. This once-idyllic little fishing village has somewhat lost its charm due to the rampant success brought upon it by its beach, but if you can visit outside peak season, it’s more than worth the trip. Zlatni Rat is also Croatia’s number one site for windsurfing, and with the heady heights of Vidova Gora mountain surging up behind the coastal strip, it’s also a great place for hiking or mountain biking. A little way down the coast, Pustinja Blaca, an impressive 16th-century monastery built into the cliff face, can be visited by boat.
