Now basically a suburb of Sevilla, the friendly village of Alcalá is worth visiting for its huge, muscular Moorish fortress, constructed by the Almohads. It’s very impressive, if a shell; little remains inside the walls. Buses run every 20 minutes from Avenida Portugal by Bar Citroën (after 2100 they run from Prado San Sebastián bus station); €1.20.
