There are several banks and supermarkets in town, as well as a petrol station. In the bus station (worth a visit for its painstakingly detailed relief model of the Picos region) is the town’s tourist office (summer daily 1000-1400, 1600-2000, winter Mon, Thu-Sat 1000- 1400, 1600-1800, Sun 1000-1400) . More information is available 4 km north of town in Tama at the Sotama visitor centre (T942 738 109, Oct-Jun daily 0900-1800, Jul-Sep 0900-2000) a striking new eco-friendly wood-clad building with an environmental exhibition and national park information office. If you’re going to do some walking in the area, make sure you pick up a proper map from one of these places. Even on the brightest of days, mists can descend rapidly, and in any event some trails are ambiguously marked.
