Cervantes is a small crayfishing community built in the last 30 years on flat sandy land by Ronsard Bay, sheltered by an offshore reef. The town has the good fortune of being the closest to Nambung National Park and its famous Pinnacles, although most people visit the park on a day trip so the town remains essentially undeveloped. The most exotic thing about Cervantes is its Spanish street names. The town was named after an American whaling ship wrecked just offshore in 1844 but the street names were chosen from Don Quixote (by Miguel de Cervantes).
