The unclassified single-track road winds its way west past Stac Pollaidh to the turn-off for Achiltibuie. This old crofting village, with whitewashed cottages set back from the sea with views across to the beautiful Summer Isles, is home to a small grocers, post office (excellent for checking out the latest community events on the go) and one of the northwest’s best dining options and hotels, the Summer Isles Hotel. Look directly south from here and you’ll clearly spot the low lying Summer Isles over a mile offshore and a popular destination for experienced sea kayakers.
