Ondangwa is 686 km from Windhoek, 256 km from Tsumeb, 35 km from Oshakati. You can get here either from Tsumeb and the triangle towns along the B1, which cross the Red Line (where there is a 24-hour Engen garage, bottle shop and takeaway), or from the far north from the fairly good gravel road C46 from Ruacana and Oshakati.
Air Namibia, Windhoek, T061-2996333, http://www.airnamibia.com.na. The airport (and Air Namibia office) is 5 km northwest of Ondangwa on the B1. There are 2 flights a day between Ondangwa and Windhoek (Eros airport) (1½ hrs), with the exception of Sat, which has one daily flight.
Numerous taxis ply south to Windhoek and destinations en route.
Ondangwa has a post office, 3 banks (with ATMs), and numerous petrol stations.
Hospital, T065-220211, is 7 km south of town on the D3622 for Eenhana. As a large public hospital it’s overcrowded and suffers from poor funding, so it’s best to go to the private hospital in Ongwediva (below) if at all possible.
