Off the C14 in the direction of Gobabeb, this is a granite inselberg rising above the desert floor accommodating two groups at a time. Rocky overhangs offer protection from the sun and carbon dating has revealed that early humans took advantage of this site some 8500 years ago. There is also evidence of more recent visits by pastoralists about 1600 years ago. A small waterhole, Zebra Pan, located 35 km southeast of here, is visited by mountain zebra, ostrich and gemsbok.
