Ferry
Since the El-Salaam ferry disaster in 2006, the vast bulk of ferry services now run from Safaga to Saudi Arabia as bureaucratic hurdles now prevent companies from operating out of Suez. Virtually zero passenger ships dock here now. Contact the port, T062-319 1085/6, to see if any ferries are departing for Jeddah, or the National Navigation Co, 42 Sharia El-Geish, Port Tawfiq, T062-319 8849, have boats every 3-4 days to Yemboa in Saudi. Bear in mind that the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Port Tawfiq, next to the tourist office, no longer issue visas (available in Cairo only).
Taxi
Service taxis travel to all of the same destinations as the buses and costs are comparable. Though service taxis are speedier, they are often not as comfortable as the a/c buses and will not depart until full. There are plenty of private taxis to run around town for E£3-5.
Train
There are 6 trains run to/from Cairo en route to/from Ismailia daily, but they’re hot and slow. You’re better off opting for the bus.
