The taxi fare from Piarco Airport to Arouca is US$17 and to the centre of Port of Spain is US$25, to Maraval US$30, Diego Martin US$35, San Fernando US$40 (50% more after 2200). Taxi despatchers find taxis for new arrivals, ask to see the notice board or rate card for taxi fares. Kalloo’s has a branch at the airport and is slightly cheaper. Unlicensed taxis outside the main parking area charge less, depending on the volume of business, at your own risk. Public transport is at some distance. From the roundabout at the end of the airport terminal approach road you can catch a route taxi to highway or to Arouca (US$0.50), then take a route taxi or maxi-taxi from the junction into Port of Spain (US$0.80). People are very helpful if you need to ask. There are also a few buses . Tickets are not available at the airport. From City Gate terminal you will have to walk to Independence or Woodford Square for a route taxi. This is not advisable at night, especially if carrying luggage. Take a taxi.

You can see most of the sights of Port of Spain by walking around the town centre. For further afield, however, there are taxis, buses, route taxis and maxi-taxis.
