The south side of the forest is approached from Naguabo up Route 191. No facilities have yet been developed. The soil and weather here is different from the north. The north is red clay (and soggy) and the south is almost sandy (fine granite), while it is less humid and cooler. It is also quieter, with no tour buses or parking lots.
