There is a small museum, cybercafé and artisan store called Museo Ometepe (up the street that runs from the dock to the church, ½ block from the Pro Credit office, T569-4225, 0800-2000) . The artisan crafts available here are hard to find anywhere else in Nicaragua. There are plantain rope hats from Pul, jícaras from La Concepción, oil paintings by local artists from Esquipulas and Moyogalpa, seed necklaces from Moyogalpa, wood sculptures from Altagracia, and pottery from San Marcos. You can also buy beautiful all-natural canteens known as a calabazos – a big round jícaro fruit, hollowed and smartly decorated, with a rope strap attached and drinking hole plugged with a corn cob.
