On the outskirts of Otrobanda, on van Leeuwenhoekstraat, is the Curaçao Museum (T4623873, curmuseum@ yahoo.com, Mon-Fri 0830-1630, Sun 1000- 1600. US$2.25/NAf5.30, children under 14 US$1.25/ NAf2.60) founded in 1946 (housed in an old quarantine station built in 1853) with a small collection of artefacts of the Caiquetio Indian culture, as well as 19th- and 20th-century paintings, antique locally made furniture, and other items from the colonial era. In the basement there is a children’s museum of science. On the roof is a 47-bell carillon, named The Four Royal Children after the four daughters of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.
