Air

Donald Sangster International Airport is Air Jamaica’s regional hub and there are good connections with lots of airlines landing here. There is a transfer service to Kingston by Martins minibus, 5 hrs. To get to the Norman Manley Airport, Kingston, take the minibus from the town centre to Pechon St, Kingston, from where the airport buses leave.

Bus

The bus station for Kingston and Ocho Rios is behind Courts (Electrical). The bus station for Negril is off Barnett St (beware pickpockets). Buses get crowded. They depart when full. They are fast, very frequent and cheap, about US$2 to Negril with a 30-second transfer in Lucea. There are more buses Montego Bay-Lucea than Lucea-Negril, which often causes a bottleneck. Buses from Kingston depart from Pechon St, roughly every hr from 0600 to 1500, US$4.50. It is possible to get to Montego Bay from Port Antonio all along the north coast, a scenic journey involving changes in Annotto Bay (then shared taxi, US$1 per person, mad rush to squeeze into clapped-out Ladas, the locals giving no quarter to slow tourists), Port Maria US$1, and Ocho Rios. Ochos Rios-Montego Bay by bus takes 2 hrs, US$2.

Taxi

JUTA are usually found outside hotels. JCAL, 80B Queen’s Drive, T9527574, charges US$25 to Gloucester Av from Sandals Montego Bay, US$30 from Wyndham. Lucea-Negril about US$35.
