Four blocks south of the Alameda is the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende. Located in a former military police station used as a detention centre under the military regime, it houses a collection of over 400 artworks produced by Chilean and international artists in support of the Unidad Popular government and in opposition to the Pinochet dictatorship. Artists include Alexander Calder, Joan Miró, Frank Stella, Oswaldo GuayasamÃn and Roberto Matta. There are also videos of interviews (in Spanish) with survivors of the 1973 coup and an information sheet in English.
