Once a very popular thermal springs resort, Mamiña is reached by a good paved road, which runs 74 km east from Pozo Almonte. Situated on a ridge at 2750 m, this historic village is now dominated by the recently expanded copper mine, some 8 km to the west. Day-trips can be made from Iquique.
