Talca

Situated on the south bank of the Río Claro, a tributary of the Maule, Talca lies 56 km south of Curicó. The most important city between Santiago and Concepción, it is a major manufacturing centre and the capital of Region VII, Maule. Founded in 1692, it was destroyed by earthquakes in 1742 and 1928. Today, it is a busy, dusty town, with a lively atmosphere day and night.
