The station for the buses going down to Puerto La Libertad is now located at the 17th Av Sur at the intersection of Blv Venezuela by the general cemetery in San Salvador. The buses going to San Salvador from Puerto La Libertad leave from the terminal at the entrance of the city centre by the ball courts. Departures from Puerto La Libertad along the coast to Sonsonate depart at 0600.
For beaches around Acajutla and west, take the direct bus from Terminal de Occidente to Sonsonate and then on: No 285 to Barra de Santiago, No 28 to Cara Sucia and the border and No 252 to Acajutla.
For Costa del Sol, Zacatecoluca and connections toward eastern beaches go from Terminal del Sur by San Marcos in San Salvador.
There are no credit card facilities or international ATMs in La Libertad. Banco de Fomento Agropecuario, Mon-Fri 0800-1600, Sat 0800-1200. Also has Western Union. HSBC, takes TCs.
Infocentros, in main street close to Puerto Bello, cheap.
Calle Gerardo Barrios and 1 Av Sur. Tourism police, based here and patrol the town and beach areas at weekends. A tourist kiosk is planned for the entrance to town.
