Air

Daily flights to and from San José are operated by SANSA, US$89. Hotel Giada is a representative for SANSA and Interbus.

Boat

In high season it is possible to charter a boat to Montezuma, US$250 for 4 people, call Captain Francisco, T2656-0131.

Bus

There is a direct bus to San José at 0400 and 0845 on Mon-Sat, 1300 Sun, up to 6 hrs, US$6.60. A good paved road leads from Sámara to Nicoya, with 5 buses between 0530 and 1630, 1½ hrs. To get to Nosara take a taxi to Servicentre Sámara (a gas station on the edge of town) buses to Nosara pass at 1300 and 1700, make sure you wait opposite the gas station and allow a little extra time; the bus won’t stop if the driver doesn’t see you. A school bus makes the journey to Nosara at about 1600 – ask locally for information about how to get on it.

Banks

There is a branch of Banco Nacional in Sámara. Larger hotels will change their guests’ money. Super Sámara, will give cash back on Visa when you buy something in the store.

Internet

Tropical Latitudes Internet Café, in centre of town. The main Internet café is on the main street behind Dragonfly handcrafts, open 0900-2100.

Language schools

Intercultura, Centro de Idiomas, by the beach, 150 m from El Dorado restaurant , T2656-0127, http://www.samaralanguageschool.com, beach campus of the Heredia-based language school.

Medical services

Dentist next to pharmacy by the football field, English spoken, call T2656-0236 or T2838-6885 in emergencies. Medical clinic just out of town on the road to Cangrejal, T2656-0166. There are 2 chemists in town, the larger on the north side of the football field, same day delivery for medicines ordered from Nicoya.
