Dominical travel guide

Dominical is a bit of a transport hub. Highway 34 meets the only good road from San Isidro de El General and the highlands for its entire length just north of the town.

There are 3 daily buses to Quepos at 0545, 0800 and 1430, with a 1300 on weekends and in the high season, 2 hrs. Heading south, 5 daily buses go to Uvita from 0950 to 2100, 45 mins. A other buses head south to Ciudad Cortés and Ciudad Neily, for connections to the Osa Peninsula, at 0420 and 1000.

Heading inland, there are 4 daily buses to San Isidro de El General, 1½ hrs, US$1.60, from where there are frequent buses to San José.

If driving, it is a good 34-km scenic road that climbs slowly through the mountains arriving eventually at San Isidro de El General.

Internet

There are a couple of public telephone boxes in town, but for long distance calls visit Diuwak who also have an internet service.

Language schools

Adventure Education Center, T2787- 0023, www.adventure spanishschool.com. A multi-campus school combing spanish language classes with adventure – other sites are in Arenal and Turrialba. 4 hrs a day for a week is US$315, with homestay US$440.
