Air
Aeropuerto Federal (LMM) is 6½ km from town. Flights to Mexico City and major towns in northern Mexico. International flights to Los Angeles, Phoenix and Tucson with AeroMéxico.
Local
Buses to the train station leave from the corner of Obregón and Zaragoza; the first leaves at 0515 in time to get tickets for the train, US$0.30. Local buses to destinations around Sinaloa, such as Topolobampo, Guasave, San Blas (Sufragio) and Culiacán leave from Cuauhtémoc, near the post office.
Long distance
The main bus station is on the corner of Castro and Constitución, about 10 mins’ walk south of town. Buses from the USA arrive here and it is the terminal for long-distance Futura and Elite services.
Services to the west coast are with Norte de Sonora, T668-812 1757, 2nd-class Estrella Blanca and 1st-class Tufesa, T668-818 2222. The terminals are clustered together near Degollado y Juárez, to the east of town.
Buses to El Fuerte depart regularly from inside the market on the corner of Independencia y Degollado, US$1.40.
To Ciudad Obregón, hourly or better, 3 hrs, US$9.65. All buses listed below are considered long distance and leave from the corner of Castro and Constitución . To Guadalajara (Tonalá, outside city), hourly, 13 hrs, US$46.55. To Guaymas, 6 hrs, US$14.65. To Mazatlán, hourly or better, 6 hrs, US$23.50. To Mexico City, every couple of hrs, 24 hrs, US$87. To Monterrey, 0900 and 2000, 24 hrs, US$71.75. To Nogales, TAP, 8 daily, 12 hrs, US$35.40. To Tepic, hourly, 10 hrs, US$40. To Tijuana, hourly, 20 hrs, US$59.25.
Train
Los Mochis station is 8 km from town; do not walk there or back in the dark. A bus into town leaves from the corner of the 1st junction from the station from 0530. There are toilets and local phones; the ticket office is open 1 hr before the train leaves.
To get to the station, there is a bus service from 0500, US$0.10 from the corner of hotels Hidalgo and Beltrán, otherwise take the 0500 bus from Hotel Santa Anita, US$2.25 (for house guests only), or taxi. Taxis in the centre go from Hidalgo y Leyva (US$4.25 per car, bargaining not possible, make sure price quoted is not per person, rip-offs are common).
If coming from Chihuahua and you don’t want to stay in Los Mochis (assuming the train is not too delayed), you can take a night bus to Mazatlán at 2200, arriving 0630.
