Morelia

Like all great university cities, Morelia boasts a wealth of grand historic architecture. An endless procession of graceful exuberant structures, al crafted from beautifully weathered pink sandstone, conspire to make this UNESCO World Heritage Site singularly aesthetic. Baroque facades, regal arches, palatial courtyards and exquisitely restored mansions are all imbued with the splendour and soaring intellectual ambitions of an age now past. Strolling through Morelia’s Spanish-flavoured streets and plazas can be a refreshingly authentic and magical experience – particularly after dusk, when floodlights illuminate some of the city’s most regal buildings. Undoubtedly, this is one of the finest colonial cities in Mexico, but for now, it is curiously divorced from the well-worn tourist track.

Beautiful city with wonderful flair and many students. The people seemed more cosmopolitan than other cities in Mexico, worth a visit. Also recommended the film festival in September / October!
